I led Lantra’s IT and Online Solutions teams, holding responsibility for all company technology. The IT team managed all physical infrastructure and internal software; the Online Solutions team managed the development and support of skills management and online learning platforms sold to customers on a SaaS basis.
Key achievements:
- Grew and restructured both teams to better focus staff skills and resources
- Overhauled the company’s technology infrastructure, replacing an unreliable mix of disparate servers with a VMware virtualised server cluster, improving resilience and reliability for both internal and customer-facing systems
- Inherited a team with informal working practices and established professional software development standards, including source code management, isolated development environments, and managed deployment
- Deployed a new customer helpdesk system that improved response times to customer issues
- Designed new cross-company online ordering processes for Lantra’s awarding body, allowing training providers to place orders more easily and reducing fulfilment costs by ~50%
